But there's nothing simple behind Andy Anand's rise within his family jewelry dynasty. After five generations of building the company into one of India's largest, Generation No. 6 is taking the business into the United State with Anand's Overland Park outlet. There, he's applying the wide range of skills acquired in virtually all aspects of the family business. At 26, nearly half his young life has been spent with the family line of work. Already, he's packed nearly a career's worth of business disciplines into his resume: profit-and-loss responsibility for #12 million in annual revenues, and he's overseen sales, marketing, government relations, advertising, underwriting, out sourcing, HR functions and more. A big influence on him? "My grandfather," he says. "He always operated with great integrity, honesty and customer service." The latter, he says remains the foundation of his emerging company.
